Macquarie Links Charity Challenge 2007

FIRST EVENT: 20th February 2007 - 7am for 8.00am Shotgun start - "Inaugural Ambassadors Cup"

For the past 3 years, Gary Dawson and Matthew Laverty have been working together on an event that has changed a lot of lives. it has not only been fun and competitive, it has also served as a very worthy community activity. The Charity Challenge has offered golfers of all standards a creditable golf competition, whilst at the same time raising monies for various worthy Australian Charities. The Net result to date since the events inception is approaching $600K.

2004 was the birth of this great event known as “The Macquarie Links Charity Challenge”. The top two teams from each charity days qualified for the final with the winners going to Huntingdale for the last day of the Australian Masters. The next day they would play the course as it was set up for the tournament.

The competition was an American Foursome format which proved popular. Golfers got to play one of the finest new Sydney layouts, that being "Macquarie Links". This year we will vary the formats of each of the events, but will continue to have the final as an American foursomes format, (there will also be some interesting activities to keep you interested on course).

One point of difference was each charity will nominate how the monies they are receiving will be spent. That way you will get to share the emotion of perhaps granting a wish, providing funds for valuable research or simply purchasing equipment. In 2006 some of the funds were used to grant two wishes, send 8 Athletes to the Special Olympic games, provide funding for a Cerebral Palsy project in FIJI.

Many of you have been great supporters of ours in the past. We hope we can continue to have your support in 2007.

Tuesday 10th July 2007 - Kidz Xpress - 8am Start

Tuesday 24th July - Autism Spectrum/St Edmunds College - 8am Start

Thursday 9th August 2007 - TBA 8am start

Thursday 20th September 2007 - Melanoma Foundation - 8am Start

Thursday 25th October 2007 - Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre - 8am Start

Tuesday 13th November 2007 - Finals

The golf will be exciting as well. If you happen to have one of the best one or possibly two net scores on a particular day, you will qualify for the final on the 13th November 2005. (You can play if you don't have an official handicap, you just cannot win the final)
